Firms bolster their growing commercial and residential real estate practices
MELVILLE, NY (April 14, 2011) — Brown & Altman, LLP has formed a mutual of counsel relationship with Ficara & Associates, P.C.
Brown & Altman, LLP was founded in 2008 and specializes in the complex field of commercial real estate law. Brown & Altman’s practice includes real estate transactions, leasing, financing, title, environmental, zoning, permitting and litigation. The firm is a member of CoreNet Global, the U.S. Green Building Council, the International Council of Shopping Centers, the Long Island Builder’s Institute, the Long Island Real Estate Group, the Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as well as the Garden City, Huntington and Melville Chambers of Commerce.
Keith P. Brown and David N. Altman, the two partners of Brown & Altman, LLP, have been providing legal services to the Long Island real estate development industry during their 30-plus years of combined practice. During their distinguished careers, Brown and Altman have each represented banks, developers, wireless communication companies and several Fortune 500 companies and many other clients in the real estate industry.

Brown received his law degree from the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center in Central Islip, New York and Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York at Albany. While a student at Touro, Brown founded and served as the original editor of the school’s Environmental Law Review. He previously worked as an assistant New York state attorney general in the Litigation Bureau and in the litigation department at McMillan, Rather, Bennett & Rigano. Brown is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut state courts, the United States Southern and Eastern District Courts and the Second Circuit United States Court of Appeals. In addition, he is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association as well as the American, New York, Suffolk and Nassau County Bar Associations. He is also an associate member of the Commercial Industrial Brokers Society.
Altman received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York and Bachelor of Arts degree in history with a minor in political science from State University of New York at Binghamton. Altman was formerly a partner at DeBenedittis & Altman. He was also a partner and the head of litigation at Amato & Associates, P.C. He is admitted to practice in New York State Court, the United States Southern and Eastern District Courts and the Second Circuit United States Court of Appeals. Altman is also a member of the New York, Nassau and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
Ficara, an experienced Condominium and Cooperative Law attorney, formerly was an associate at Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman where he was a member of the Condominium/Cooperative practice group. He also served as an attorney with Sidley Austin LLP.

Ficara received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law in Hempstead, New York and Bachelor of Science degree in business and economics with a minor in history from Lehigh University. Ficara also undertook studies at La Faculté de Deroit des Sciences Economiques et de Gestion (University of Nice School of Economics and Management) in Nice, France.

He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Queens and Bronx Building Association. He also serves on the New York State Bar Association Committee on Condominiums and Cooperatives.
In addition, Ficara is the founder and chairman of the board of Sail to a Cure, an annual charity sailing event on Long Island that benefits the American Cancer Society.
